Why is it so hard to just obey?

Last night we were suppose to go to Lighthouse Ministries. It is only once a month and I have been looking forward to going for weeks. Then this week happened. After Dinah got hit Saturday night, everyone has just been close to either tears or anger all week, we have not been home one night this week, Kasey, our lab, had fleas all over him from a little "field trip" he took to our neighbors pasture. I just wanted to get some meds for him, give him a bath and stay home, but NO... we are out of everything (including coffee!), so I need to make a wal-mart trip (YUCK).
Greg had to take Mammy her car from the dealorship, so I said," let me follow you, we will go out to dinner (there was no food at home to cook) and then I will drop you off at home to wash the dog and I will go to wal-mart." Totally blowing off Lighthouse, I had too much to do!

Thus begins our evening. My normally well behaved in public kids acted like they had never been out to eat. I was kicked or pulled on the whole dinner. The food was not so great. The kids meals were free (why we chose this place) and yet out bill was still almost $50. Then our card didn't work. AND I KNOW there is money in our account because I had checked the balance 3 hours earlier! So I had to leave Greg there and go to the bank (to prove we had money) Thankfully they just took our credit card.
I was expecting a tree to fall on me in the walmart parking lot(Oh wait! That happened last month in our front yard!) Then it dawned on me, if I would have just given the Lord 2 hours of my time to go minister to the women at Lighthouse I would have been at such a better place last night at 9:00. Not frustrated with my kids for just being kids and mad at myself for spending too much money at dinner. I wouldn't be complaining because I had to go shopping, but thankful that I had a family that loved me and grateful that I could go to walmart and buy them food.
See, God didn't need me to go to Lighthouse for Him or for the women there. He needed me to go to Lighthouse for me. I just wished I would have listened. How many times do I say to my children," How hard is it to just obey me? It is for your own good." Next time God tells me what to do, I am praying I will have learned a lesson and just listen!

Welcome Samson

We had decided that we were going to wait a little while before we got a new puppy. Then we decided we would just go "look" at a little boy yorkie that was for sale. Well.....He just stole our hearts and we had to bring him home! SOOO...Introducing Samson the Great! Actually, we have not decided on a good middle name, but if anyone has any suggestions, please leave them in a comment. Speaking of Comments, I have had over 200 hits on my blog and hardly any comments! What is up with that? Share the love guys, whose out there reading about us??

Also, here are a few first pics of Sammy. Love you guys!

Goodby Dinah Belle

Saturday night our sweet little Yorkshire terrier ran out into the road right in front of a car. She was the sweetest little bundle of fur! Abby was the best mommy to her and loved taking care of her. Dinah loved going to the beach with us and for rides in the car. She was so little, Abby could dress her in Build a Bear clothes. We are really going to miss our baby girl.

Our Family Vacation At The Beach

Vacation

We had an amazing time on Little Gaspirilla Island last week. We are so fortunate to be able to go a lot during the year, but it is so nice to stay for a whole week. We had an amazing time!

My big fisherman

Nathan has been talking and talking about going fishing when we were down at the island on vacation. Well, last Saturday, we went out on the boat to tube. It was so much fun, even Esther got on the tube. Nathan rode the tube, but then said "I want to fish!" It was around noon, so we all decide to dock at Rum Bay and get some lunch. Nate was so put out because he didn't want to eat, he wanted to fish!! I realized it must be important to him if he was willing to give up lunch! So as soon as we ate, we went out and put the lines in. Nathan maybe had his in the water 3 min. and he got a catch! It was a 16" ( a keeper!) trout! He was soo excited! That was the only keeper of the day. After his pawpaw showed him how to clean it, he told me I didn't have to worry about supper cause he had taken care of it. Well, I was able to get about 12 little fried nuggets out of it and they were soooo good!! We decided we better go ahead and eat our hamburgers too, but Nate's catch of the day sure was a good appetizer!!

Vacation Bible School

We had Vacation Bible School last week at church. The theme was Avalanche Ranch. We kicked off on Sunday with a water slide and cookout. The kids had such a great time. We averaged around 85 every day. I love VBS!

May 31st was our last day of school for about 2 months! We let the kids choose a place to eat and "the Principal" presented them certificates of achievement. Then we gave them an Adventure Box full of cool summer things. The box was pirate themed and had all kind of piratey things in there: Treasure Island (we will read this together at night), pirate sunglasses, stickers, puzzles, eyepatches, coloring books, fruit snacks. We also included some not so pirate things, but fun for summer like water balloons, water guns, sidewalk chalk and flash cards. They chose to eat at Mongolian Grill for dinner. Welcome to our official Summer!!
